The styling of the new 2016 Toyota Hilux might not be to everyone’s taste, but eight Generations in, the Hilux is once again redefining “Tough”

Since the 1st generation Hilux first hit dealerships in 1968, over 16 million have been sold in more than 180 countries and regions over the world! Over its seven-generation history, the quality, durability and reliability of the Hilux have earned the model a diehard fan base and a legendary reputation in South Africa. Simply put, everyone knows the Hilux is tough, however the new 8th generation Hilux pioneers a “new era” of sedan-like-easy-to-drive, stress-free toughness.

This new eight-generation model is larger than before, offering 19mm extra shoulder room, 8mm extra head room, 15mm higher seat height and 35mm extra knee room for rear seat passengers. There’s also a larger 80 litre fuel tank.

The eighth-generation Hilux is the first all-new one in a decade. The smoother, less rugged looking bakkie gets a much more modern look that might not be to everyone’s taste, but falls in line with Toyota’s latest design language. The bulk of the upgrades are found up front, where the Hilux is fitted with peculiar elongated headlights, a muscular-looking bumper, and a sizable three-slat heavily chromed grille as well as other chrome accents which will be fitted as standard.

The Hilux will be available is SA early 2016.
