Aston Martin’s DB11 ever-expanding range has spawned a new drop-top ‘Volante’ version, and it’s drop-dead gorgeous!

Due to the convertible’s structural reinforcement, the Volante is 110kg heavier than its brother, the V8 coupé and is powered exclusively by a new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 for an exceptional combination of performance, efficiency according to Aston Martin.

The new V8 engine produces 375kW and is connected to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and drives the rear wheels. At 1870kg, the new DB11 Volante is 26kg lighter and more rigid than the previous DB9 Volante and has been engineered to deliver a much broader envelope of abilities. This depth and breadth of ability is made possible by the Volante’s 3-stage powertrain and chassis modes, Aston says.

Of course the defining feature of the DB11 Volante is its convertible roof. Folding to a class-leading stack height, the Volante’s hood takes just 14 seconds to lower and 16 to close. The roof can be operated remotely from the key, or on the move at speeds of up to 50km/h with a 50km/h headwind. The redesigned hood system has also led to a 20% gain in boot space compared to the outgoing DB9 Volante.

We could drone on and on about the car’s striking aesthetic and visual appeal here, but the pictures below will do a much better job – Feast your eyes!
