Yay, the wait is finally over! Amazon announced that live studio filming began last week for the second series of The grand tour and the first episode will officially be available on the company’s Prime service on 8 December.

The Grand Tour Season 2

The biggest change coming to the new season is that the roaming studio tent will no longer be pitched all over the world. It will now be pitched at a permanent location at a Cotswolds country house very close to Jeremy Clarkson’s house in the UK.

The production of season two was not all smooth sailing and the so called ‘holy trinity’ of the motoring world: Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May faced some significant setbacks.

The Grand Tour Season 2

Earlier in the year co-host Richard Hammond was involved in a nasty EV wreck with a Rimac Concept One supercar on a Swiss hill climb route and had to be hospitalized for a few days. He reportedly also had motorbike accident in Mozambique.

Jeremy Clarkson in turn was also admitted to hospital during a vacation with his family on the Spanish Island of Majorca. The 57-year-old TV personality reportedly came down with a severe case of pneumonia which also temporarily halted production of the season.

With regard to James May… well he didn’t make any headlines due to injury, but he sports a brand new swanky short hair style in the upcoming season.

Judging by the trailer released by Amazon, we are in for a wild ride. Supercars, stunning mountaintop vistas and shots of the American southwest are accompanied by Paul McCartney and Wings’ “Live and Let Die.” We just can’t wait to see what amazing cars, grand adventures and idiotic stunts that Clarkson, Hammond and May have up their sleeves this year.
