Tesla Motors had a busy year so far. They opened their Nevada-based Giga-factory earlier in the year, they revealed the Model 3 a few months ago, and this all whilst at the same time trying to ramp up manufacturing speed to keep up with customer demand.

Just to keep the lime light shining, CEO Elon Musk recently tweeted that the company’s all-electric, self-driving semi-truck will tentatively be unveiled on 26 October. Exactly one month from now.

“Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride tentatively scheduled for Oct 26th in Hawthorne,” Musk said in a tweet on Wednesday.

These trucks are said to be long haul vehicles designed for resource transportation, with the company aiming to move outside the consumer sector.

It is estimated that Tesla’s electric semi- truck could have an effective range of up to 500 kilometres. Even though this range cannot compete with conventional diesels that can travel over 1500 kilometres on a single tank, Musk’s electric trucks, could potentially be safer and more cost effective than current human-driven big-rigs.

For the final details, will have to wait until 26 October though….
