Mazda Teases Two New Models for Tokyo Motor Show

Mazda Motor Corporation will exhibit two concept models at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, one that heralds the company’s next-generation products and another that embodies the direction of the company’s next-generation design.

Along with the new concept models, Mazda will also show off their new flagship SUV, the CX-8 as well as a special edition Mazda Roadster (MX-5) and also their next-gen SKYACTIV-X gasoline engine when the motor show starts on 28 October.

This is Mazda’s anticipated line-up for the Tokyo Motor Show 2017:

A Mazda-3 sized compact hatchback that fuses next-generation technology and design. It adopts SKYACTIV-Vehicle Architecture, next-gen technologies and is powered by the SKYACTIV-X. Dynamic performance has been dramatically refined and next-generation design condensed to create Mazda’s ideal compact hatchback. Could this be the new Mazda 3?

This concept car is said to define the next generation of Mazda design. It will result in a more profound expression of the globally-acclaimed KODO design language Mazda debuted on the Mazda CX-5 back in 2012.

The Mazda CX-8

The Mazda CX-8

The CX-8 is company’s all-new flagship SUV. It features sophisticated styling, three rows of seating as well as various upgrades to the SKYACTIV-D 2.2 clean diesel engine increase torque and power for composed performance.

Mazda MX-5 Roadster Special Edition

A special edition Mazda Roadster (MX-5) Red Top featuring a dark cherry red canopy and auburn Nappa leather upholstery will be exhibited.


The Mazda Skyactiv-X compression ignition engine

Set to become the world’s first commercial gasoline engine to use compression ignition. (Read more about Skyactiv-X here)
